FROM THURSDAY, MAY 4, 2000 RESORTER: (left) Shawn Burns, age 12 of Indian River, was successful on his first day of turkey hunting. Shawn was hunting with his dad, Ken Burns on the property of a friend, John Rash. Rash is also a turkey hunter, but he knew it was Shaw's first year turkey hunting, so he told him to come over and get one. Shawn's turkey weighed 19.5 pounds and was double-bearded with the longest beard measuring 8.5 inches. |

FROM THURSDAY, MAY 4, 2000 RESORTER: (left) Dave Jodway of Indian River was a successful turkey hunter this spring. Jodway said he had his eye on a bigger turkey, but he got close to this 14-pounder and the opportunity was just too good to pass up. Jodway shot the turkey around noon Wednesday, May 3. |
